New stuff at the homestead house!

The first 3 pictures are of our floor we have put down. Next on the agenda for them is the stain and clear coat. I love my floors!!! They only cost me 1/3 what hardwood would have cost me. YEAH!!

The cabinet will be going over our stove. I'll re post when I manage to get it painted. The vent hood will be mounted in it below the shelf part. I'm thinking this may end up turquoise in color with maybe the inside of it painted yellow. We'll see.

This is the colors in the grand kids room. One pic is the sherbert, green and blue....and of course the other picture is showing you the pink, green and blue...along with you can see a bit of the yellow that is in the hallway. No, I am not painting the door. I'm going to do a bit of sanding on it and then clear coat it.
Sorry it took so long for this post, but another one will be coming VERY soon. Till next time...Love Thy Earth!!

Bring on the SUNSHINE YELLOW!!!!

This is the latest colors to show. One wall in the living room we painted BRIGHT yellow and continued it up the stairs into the upstairs foyer area. The blue is in the closet and ceiling of the grandchildrens room. We have pink, sherbert and green left to do in there. After that, all I have left to decide on is what color paint to put in the bathroom. So far my bathroom has boggled me for some reason. I think I'm going to go with another turquoise in there (different from the laundry room). Well, this is all I got for you today. Ya'll have a good one till the next time I write and LOVE THY EARTH!

I LOVE my LIME green PAINT!

Yes I do...I LOVE my lime green paint. The green is almost impossible to get a perfect picture of the actual color, but you should be able to get a decent idea how it looks. We painted both side walls of the dining area and ran it right on into the living area, making 3 walls of the living room also lime green. The 4th living room wall is going to be a very bright yellow and continue up the steps and into the upstairs foyer...including the ceiling. I'll get you a pic of it soon.
Wondering what the 2 doors are? Well, the left hand door opens out and inside is a coat closet (in the very back of it is the hot water heater). The right hand door that opens in with a window in it is...wait for it...THE BATHROOM!!! Yes, our bathroom door has a window...lol. Fear not, we are either going to put in frosted glass (not our first choice cause we like the old wavy glass thats in there) OR it will get a very well fitted and lined curtain. No matter what we decide, one thing is absolutely for sure...we want to paint "OFFICE" on the outside of the window. After all, it is the room you do your "business" in, hehehe.
Till I post again.....PEACE OUT!!!

Get out your sunglasses...PAINT TIME!!!!

Hope you LOVE color, cause I sure do. The photo with the window in it is actually more the true color. The one with Richard painting is WAY off the mark. We are having so much fun picking out our colors. Well, I am!! Richard loves all the colors and pretty much chose the one for the kitchen (I gave him a few to pick from, lol), but he can pick things out fast...which means he does start getting impatient a bit when I change my mind at least a half dozen time...LOL. I just want them perfect. I have had a LOT of homes over the years and have always went with colors that were within the "normal" range...but, I intend to never move again and I've decided I want to do something happy, cheery, and TOTALLY DIFFERENT to anything I've ever done before.
The turquoise color is the laundry/mud room, which obviously is just off the kitchen. I LOVE this color. I'm going to have fun decorating in there with my antique washboards and such. So, we also painted the master bedroom, but I could not get a single picture with the paint looking anywhere near the actual color, so sorry you can't see it. It looks like a million of those little bright green tree frogs from the Amazon got in a fight in there. Its a nice bright , yet sorta soft green.
Sorry it took me so long to update but I'll be back again really soon this time because sometime this week you will be seeing LIME GREEN going up on the walls in the living room.

Till I write again...Love thy Earth!!!

Taping and mudding......so messy.

So, taping and mudding is not so easy. While Richard was off at work in Michigan I went and got the supplies and started to get at it. I have watched our sheetrock finishers do this a 100 times for sure. Surely I could do it too. Well, I found out that I definitely can do it, BUT it is not as easy as it looked. I got some done and when Richard got home he said I had done a very good job.....but let me tell you...IT WAS TOUGH to get it right. Richard did most of the taping from that point on and I assisted some here and there. I did a bunch in the bathroom and then went back to assisting now and then. He finally finished all the taping as of today and everything has a good coat of mud. Now for sanding, more mud, and sanding some more. Sanding will be something new for me to try. Once again, I've seen it done a lot, but this will be my first time to do it myself. Till I update you again...Love thy Earth!

FINALLY.....we have sheetrock!!!

Sorry its been awhile since I posted...but alas, I am at it again. We are working on our sheetrock. These pics were made early in the process. These are all made upstairs. As of right now the upstairs is finished with the exception of the width of one board of sheetrock on each side of the peak of the ceiling. All walls and lower parts of the slanted ceiling are done. I love it!!!

In the pic of me I'm scoring/cutting the sheetrock to fit. The other pic is my husband Richard putting in screws. Actually it only took us a few days to do the upstairs. Looking forward to moving downstairs to work because it will be so much easier...NO CEILINGS TO DO!!! We have open beams down there so that means no over head heaving of this stuff....its heavy. I should have more to write and more pictures in the next week of the downstairs getting board put up. Till then....Love thy earth and all that's in it!!!

A Little More Done!!

I definitely have to get up to the ceiling and do some touching up...but hey, you get the idea!!!

It's getting there. We got the ceiling painted like I wanted...kind of white washed. I wanted the knots and grain to show through a bit. I love it. Also have the insulation in. Couldn't afford the green kind made from recycled denim like I wanted but sometimes you have to settle and make choices. Such as do I want denim insulation or do I want to finish this house enough to get to move in? I need to move so that answers that question. You can't always get what you want.... ya get what ya need. We also have the rough in wiring done and the well pump set. So next is the rough in plumbing and sheetrock after that. Stay tuned and I'll update again as soon as something new happens.
Until next time...Love thy Earth!!
